Castello Di Camino

The Camino Castle stands on a hill overlooking the town ((Basso Monferrato) hill) and is one of the most picturesque castles in Monferrato. It is located in a beautiful park full of ancient trees, in a zigzag shape, topped by a huge quadrangular tower, from which you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view from Monferrato to the Po valley to the circle of the Alps.

Piedmont Home regions of the Nebbiolo grape

While Turin is the capital of the Piedmont, Alba and Asti are at the heart of the region’s wine industry. The winemaking industry of the Piedmont played a significant role in the early stages of the Risorgimento with some of the era’s most prominent figures – such as Camillo Benso, conte di Cavour and Giuseppe Garibaldi – owning vineyards in Piedmont region and making significant contributions to the development of Piedmontese wines.

Nowadays, a number of outstanding wines come from Piedmont. The best-known wines from this region include Barbaresco and Barolo, which are made from the Nebbiolo grape, and these wines are ideal for storage and a well-aged Barolo. As the wine matures the colour turns more brownish and rust-red. There are also spicy Barbera wines, intensely scented Dolcetto wines, Gavivins and from the Asti region also sparkling white wine made from the aromatic moscato grape. The sparkling wine Asti spumante is also made from the moscato grape. The Brachetto is another variety used for making sweet and sparkling red wines. Thanks to the Italian royal house of Savoy owning land here and operating vineyards, “their” wine Barolo also became the so-called wine of kings – and the king of Italian wines.

Castello di Camino winery

The Castello di Camino winery has become one of the leading wine producers in Piedmont region. This Barbera is a great example of the quality wine produced here. From this grape, previously considered immature, creates an expressive, subtle and very classic Piedmont wine with saturated, elegant fruit and a soft, delicate taste experience.

Wine from Barbera

Barbera is the most traditional grape variety on the hills of the Asti region. Therefore, the wines produced from it are also a genuine brand. Rurè matures in Slavonian oak barrels, which gives it its harmony and balance. The aroma is fresh and fruity with notes of blackberry and jam as well as vanilla and hazelnut. The taste is full and robust with a lovely acidic nerve, where the wood also feels gentle.
